Carlos Higuera-Rueda is currently a staff surgeon at Cleveland Clinic Florida, where he divides his time between leadership, research and patient care.
He is the Chairman of the Levitetz Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Florida and Director of the Orthopaedic and Rheumatology Center.
Dr. Higuera completed his residency at Cleveland Clinic and a clinical fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Dr. Higuera specializes in hip and knee arthroplasty surgery. He is interested in complex revision procedures including infections. His research interest is mainly in periprosthetic joint infections including diagnostic tools, patient optimization and overall outcomes after arthroplasty.
He is currently working on developing new technologies to diagnose and treat such infections. He is the president of the Musculoskeletal Infection Society.

Dr. Collopy is a Perth-based surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement, revision arthroplasty, and pelvic and acetabular trauma. He is well-respected nationally and internationally, and is a regular speaker on the national and international circuit. He completed his residency and advanced surgical training at Royal Perth Hospital.
After gaining FRACS Ortho in 1994, he undertook three years of overseas fellowship training in the area of hip and knee arthroplasty and revision surgery, initially at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford UK, followed by a further year at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, and finally a fellowship in pelvic and acetabular trauma at Parkland Memorial Trauma Centre, Dallas Texas.
Dr. Collopy works as a Consultant at St John of God Private Hospitals in Perth. His research interests are in hip and knee implant design and fixation and he was one of the design surgeons on the Emperion revision hip system, the Triathlon knee system and the AccoladeII hip system. He, together with one of his partners, Mr Gavin Clark, is involved in developing robotics in knee and hip replacement.
Dr. Collopy is the immediate Past-President of the Arthroplasty Society of Australia, and is currently the Chairman of the WA State branch of the AOA. Dr. Javad Parvizi is an American Board Certified, fellowship trained, Orthopaedic Surgeon and the Director of Clinical Research at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute. He has been at Rothman since 2003. He holds the James Edwards Professor Chair of Orthopaedics at Thomas Jefferson Univerity. He specializes in the management of young patients with hip disorders such as dysplasia, femoroacetabular impingement and other complex hip and knee conditions. He is a renowned world expert in the field of periprosthetic joint infection, joint preservation, and joint reconstruction. He has performed over 10,000 joint procedures including over 1,100 preservation surgeries (femoroacetabular osteoplastypelvic and femoral osteotomies). Today, he continues to help patients of any age, performing hundreds of hip and knee replacement and revision surgeries per year.
Dr. Parvizi is a native of Azerbaijan, Iran and lived there until the age of 16. He trained in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Switzerland. He earned his medical degree from the University of Sheffield, UK in 1991 and then completed specialist surgical training in Newcastle, UK. In 1995, he moved to Rochester, US, to attend the Mayo Clinic as a research fellow and a postgraduate student. In 1997 he obtained a Master of Science in Molecular Biology from the Mayo Foundation, Mayo Clinic, Rochester. After finishing his residency at Mayo Clinic in 2002, he was awarded the “Hip Society-Muller Foundation Fellowship” in Adult Reconstruction to spend additional surgical training at the Inselspital Hospital at the University of Berne, Switzerland. After completion of his fellowship, he joined Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in 2003, where he has remained since.
As a researcher and surgeon, his areas of interest include periprosthetic joint infection, hip pain in young adults, and prevention of thromboembolic disease. He has published over 800 peer-reviewed scientific articles, 30 textbooks, and over 200 book chapters. He has received over 50 awards and honors from international scientific societies around the globe because of his surgical and research activities. He has received funding for his research from the National Institute of Health, Department of Defense, Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation, Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation, Arthritis Foundation and numerous other funding bodies.
Dr. Parvizi travels extensively across the globe to give lectures related to his area of expertise and has been given the honorary membership of numerous societies around the world. He has served as the president of Musculoskeletal Infection Society (2013), Eastern Orthopedic Association (2018) and holds positions on the board of numerous organizations and societies. He will be the president of American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons in 2023.
