Dr Sorial has completed 3 years as the President of the Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society and is now serving in the role of scientific chairman for APAS.
Dr Rami Sorial was trained in Sydney and completed Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1993. He undertook two further years of subspecialty training in hip and knee surgery including fellowships in Phoenix and Boston and further training in London before returning to a senior lecturer post at the Royal North Shore Hospital in 1996.
He was appointed to the Nepean Hospital in 1997 as a VMO and continues to provide a specialty practice in both primary and complex revision joint reconstruction, knee and hip replacement, arthroscopic knee surgery and ligament reconstruction as well as a trauma service for a busy regional trauma centre.
He is currently Head of Department at Nepean Hospital in Penrith with appointments also to Nepean Private Hospital and Macquarie University Private Hospital. His academic appointments include Adjunct Associate Professor of surgery Sydney University.
Dr Sorial has lectured extensively on the wide topics of joint replacement and reconstruction both nationally and internationally and has participated in demonstration surgeries locally and overseas to advance and share surgical skills particularly within the Asia Pacific Region. Dr. Collopy is a Perth-based surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement, revision arthroplasty, and pelvic and acetabular trauma. He is well-respected nationally and internationally, and is a regular speaker on the national and international circuit. He completed his residency and advanced surgical training at Royal Perth Hospital.
After gaining FRACS Ortho in 1994, he undertook three years of overseas fellowship training in the area of hip and knee arthroplasty and revision surgery, initially at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford UK, followed by a further year at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, and finally a fellowship in pelvic and acetabular trauma at Parkland Memorial Trauma Centre, Dallas Texas.
